If you already know I have no clients and no income stream, why are you charging me a fee?
There are a few reasons why Freestyle charges our freelancers. The first reason is all about you. We know that when things are free, we don’t value them as highly and they tend to get tossed onto the backburner indefinitely. You know, just like that “freebie” graveyard that’s living in your inbox. We know, you’ll get around to all that reading one day. But even when you just pay a couple bucks for something, there is suddenly an obligation to get your money out of it. We want to make sure you actually take action and change your life instead of just creating yet another account and then never logging in. The second reason is about our entrepreneurs. We owe them the courtesy of safeguarding their businesses from those who may just be here on a whim. We need to be able to reassure them that the freelancers in this community are invested in themselves and committed to the businesses they strive to serve. And finally, the third reason- $17 is simply the cost of doing business. We love ya, but we’ve got bills too!
Why should I spend my time and expertise working for free?
It’s a great question, but we don’t necessarily suggest that you ever work "for free." That suggests that you’re not getting anything out of the arrangement in return. Not only are you getting real world experience and testimonials that you can use to market yourself all the way to kingdom come, but you’re also cutting back hugely on the amount of time you would otherwise spend to arrive at the same place. Time is actually your most valuable currency because once you spend it, it can never be earned back. What is your time worth to you? Could you really put a price on an hour spent with a child or spouse, or doing an activity that you love? Life is short, and we recommend that you spend it living!
Why should I join this community when I can just post in social media groups to see who needs help with their business?
I mean, you could, but can we just say…. RIP inbox? You could easily have a hundred people shoving their businesses in your face, and the overwhelm with sifting through all of that would likely be more time-consuming than the work you’d actually be doing for the business. Not to mention, what happens when that relationship doesn’t work out? It may look strange if you continue to post offering complimentary services, and that may cause you problems down the road when you’re ready to market your fully-loaded self. We recommend you sacrifice one of your Chick-Fil-A splurge nights this month instead. IJS.
Does Freestyle require a contract?
